Virtual private server
A virtual private server is a system to implement multiple 'virtual' machines on one physical server.
Virtualization allows one physical server to use the physical server a (large) number of virtual servers, allowing a much larger proportion of time used. In addition, the use of virtual servers inherent security, a compromised VPS has no impact on other VPS on a single (physical) machine, as with web hosting usually is the case.
Virtualization can also be used for various non-interoperable systems running on the same computer.
